I am a chemical engineer supporting Optics Processing for NIF & Photon Science. I research cleaning, etching, and coating processes to improve the laser damage threshold of NIF final optics. I use ellipsometry to better understand how sol-gel coatings age in vacuum. I develop surface treatment protocols to improve the performance and reliability of fiber lasers.
