Dr. Lotefa Binta Tuli is a postdoctoral researcher in the Reaction Dynamics group. Her research focuses on modeling the formation and destruction of water droplets and ice particles stemming from the utilization of conventional and sustainable aviation fuels. Dr. Tuli is developing detailed chemical kinetic models which simulate particle size and number distributions of these water droplets and ice particles. Her work will aid stakeholders in understanding the early nucleation of ice particles which can persist as contrails which contribute to climate forcing effects from the aviation sector.

Research Interests

  • Quantum mechanics calculations including the exploration of potential energy surfaces, reaction rate coefficients, formation of resonance-stabilized hydrocarbon radicals, aromatic hydrocarbons, and the growth of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) over a wide range of thermodynamic states.
  • Applications-oriented theoretical chemistry, predictions of physico-chemical (structural, thermodynamics) properties.
  • Chemistry and physics sub-models in simulations.
