Jerome Solberg earned his doctorate in Mechanical Engineering at U.C. Berkeley while working for Fabco Automotive Corporation, late of Emeryville and Livermore, California, a manufacturer of heavy-duty truck drivetrain and chassis components. His dissertation under the supervision of Professor Panayiotis Papadopoulos was on numerical methods for contact and impact. In 2003 he joined Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he has helped lead development of the Diablo implicit multiphysics engineering code and the ALE3D MHD module. In addition to research on finite element methods for contact/impact and MHD, he has also collaborated with ANL and ORNL on multiphysics methods for problems in the Fission and Fusion Industries. He is currently the group leader of the Methods Development group within the Computational Engineering Division.
B.S., Mechanical Engineering, University of Southern California.
PhD., Mechanical Engineering, University of California, Berkeley, 2000.
