Ellie is currently working to understand fundamental material properties to aid in the design of composites for operation under extreme environments. She has an extensive background in crystallography, solid state synthesis, and material property characterization which she is building upon for her work here at LLNL. Her materials research focuses on expanding the application of non-oxide ceramics fabricated via advanced manufacturing methods including Direct Ink Write (DIW), gel-casting, and spark plasma sintering.
