Steven Smith joined LLNL in 1991. His interests are in system biology, scientific computing on distributed and highly parallel architectures, software tools and software engineering techniques for high-performance computing, and scientific data visualization. He has worked on the Zipcode message passing system, mathematical libraries, the ParFlow geophysics application, and the SAMRAI adaptive mesh refinement infrastructure. He is currently involved in a foot and mouth disease modeling project./p>

Steve Smith earned his BS degree in computer science from the University of Illinois in 1991.
