Katie is a mechanical research engineer in the Materials Engineering Division working on mechanical logic systems. She received her BS in structural engineering from the University of California San Diego and her MS and PhD in mechanical engineering from Purdue University. Katie’s research interests include multistable structures, bioinspired design, and the use of structural and material systems as alternative methods of sensing, memory, and computation. She is also involved in the lab’s outreach programs to engage local students in STEM topics.
