Career path

Fang Joined LLNL in 2011 as a postdoctoral researcher working on solar microbial electrochemical systems for wastewater-to-hydrogen conversion. Prior to that she studied semiconductor nanomaterials for applications in nanoelectronics and nanophotonics in graduate school at Harvard University , and then microbial electricity generation during postdoctoral training at University of California, Santa Barbara. She has highly diversified research skill sets ranging from nanomaterials , device applications, bioengineering and additive manufacturing. Her major research interests include applying advanced materials and manufacturing techniques to biocatalytic processes for energy recovery from various waste sources, and developing new materials for NIF applications.

Ph.D., Chemistry, Harvard, 2008
