Sei Jin was born and raised in Seoul, Republic of Korea, and obtained his bachelor's ('08), master's ('11) and Ph.D. ('14) in mechanical engineering at University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. He was a postdoctoal associate in mechanical engineering department/laboratory for manufacturing and productivity at MIT ('14) before joining Republic of Korea Army (14'-18'). He performed his service at the global frontier center for multiscale energy systems in Seoul National University. After being honorably discharged, he joined LLNL in 2018. Sei Jin's primary research interest lies in nanoscale architected materials, their unique mechanical properties and devices using the same.
