Haichao Miao is a Staff Scientist at the Center for Applied Scientific Computing (CASC) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). His research focuses on scientific data visualization, image analysis, virtual reality, and 3D scanning. Since joining LLNL in 2021, Haichao has co-led several Lab-Directed Research and Development (LDRD) projects aimed at advancing immersive techniques for the analysis of digital twins in advanced manufacturing and developing photogrammetry capabilities. Prior to LLNL, Haichao was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Austrian Institute of Technology, where he co-created Adenita, a software for the design of DNA nanostructures. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science, earned in 2019 from the Vienna University of Technology.
