Roark Marsh is an experimental physicist at LLNL, currently leading an accelerator-based neutron imaging effort. Roark spent his first 9 years working on laser-Compton sources at LLNL, which are currently being pursued by both private industry licensing LDRD-funded intellectual property and DARPA. He received his PhD in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the Plasma Science and Fusion Center, where he worked on novel high-frequency, high-gradient accelerator technology in collaboration with SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. He attended the University of California, Santa Cruz, and received degrees in physics, pure mathematics, and classical studies. Roark lives in Livermore with his wife Katie and their two boys, Theo and Will. Research interests include high frequency RF, breakdown physics, novel accelerator structures, advanced accelerator concepts, accelerator-based radiation sources, industrial accelerator applications, and advanced photon sources.
