Personal Background
Duane Liedahl is a staff physicist in the Theory and Modeling group. He joined LLNL in 1991 at the post-doctorate level after completing his Ph.D. in physics at UC Berkeley, where his research project involved atomic kinetics in astrophysical X-ray sources. Since joining the laboratory, Duane has worked on the modeling and analysis of X-ray spectra from a variety of high-temperature astrophysical and laboratory plasmas, with particular interest in atomic modeling associated with the interaction of high-energy radiation with matter near black holes and neutron stars and in high energy density laser-produced plasmas.
