Research interests

As a staff scientist in the Laser Material Interaction Science group, I primarily work on laser processing and characterization of materials. I use ultrafast laser systems and develop processes for micromachining materials such as glass welding or micro-hole drilling for NIF target capsules. I also use a photothermal interferometry system to measure absorption in low-absorption materials and coatings and I develop and run optical diagnostics on the EMIT hypersonic windtunnel
