Dr. Kiel Holiday has been an Associate Program Leader in LLNL’s plutonium facility within Superblock having had responsibility for aqueous chemistry, pyrochemistry, vaults, material control and accountability, and casting over the last 10 years. He received his Ph.D. in Radiochemistry from University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2009, and he completed a two-year post-doc with the Institut für Nukleare Entsorgung (INE) in Karlsruhe, Germany before joining the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 2011. Over the course of Dr. Kiel Holliday’s career, he has established expertise in plutonium processing and actinide chemistry. He is currently LLNL’s representative on the organizing committee of the Actinide Separations Conference. He has authored over 50 peer reviewed papers in actinide science spanning nuclear fuel, environmental behavior, pre- and post-detonation nuclear forensics, and plutonium processing. Kiel also co-authored the Plutonium Handbook chapter “Separation of Plutonium from Spent Fuel and Targets”.
