Mr. Jeffrey Hockman is the Deputy Division Leader for the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED), with delegated responsibility for day-to-day management of personnel and the technical and administrative tasks of a division of approximately 320. DTED personnel primarily provide support to the Weapons and Complex Integration Principal Directorate at LLNL.
Mr. Hockman began his career at LLNL in 1981 and has extensive experience in nuclear weapons, nuclear materials technology, experiment diagnostics, high-energy laser systems, and finite element analysis. He also has extensive managerial experience, having served as a project engineer, group leader, and manager for various projects within the Weapons and Complex Integration (WCI) and National Ignition Facility (NIF) and Photon Science Principal Associate Directorates (PADs) prior to his current Deputy Division Leader role in the Engineering Directorate. His leadership roles have included Associate Operations Manager for WCI, project leader for the LLNL portions of the TA-18 Early Move and Criticality Experiment Facility projects (moving materials and capability from Los Alamos National Laboratory to the Nevada National Security Site), project engineer for the Robust Nuclear Earth Penetrator (RNEP), engineering group leader and manager positions for design and construction of several NIF subsystems, and, prior to the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, lead project engineer responsible for the design, fabrication and assembly of all mechanical diagnostics and device systems hardware associated with nuclear tests. He has overseen planning, scheduling, budgeting, staffing, and execution for numerous multimillion-dollar projects critical to LLNL and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).
Mr. Hockman received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from John Brown University in 1979, and his Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University in 1981. He has been recognized twice with a Defense Programs Award of Excellence. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of California. Mr. Hockman is married to Connie Hockman, and together they have three grown children.
