Joey is a postdoctoral researcher at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory where he works on additive manufacturing of materials for high temperature and reactive environments. This work includes the direct AM of technical ceramics and high temperature metals, as well as reaction synthesis of claddings and composites for these extreme environments. Joey’s graduate research focused on solid-state metal AM via Additive Friction Stir Deposition, and applying the technique to repair and large part manufacturing. In his work experience Joey has worked with the aerospace industry, defense manufacturing, and the biomedical device industry. Within AM Joey’s core interest is the use of unique materials for AM, as well as the synthesis of new unique materials through AM.
