Research interests

My research interests lie at the intersection of materials science, engineering, computer programming, and advanced technologies. My current focus revolves around the development and characterization of high-damage-threshold materials and coatings for use in high-powered laser systems, and utilizing tools such as Python to better understand and analyze large-scale performance metrics with a specific emphasis on applications in nuclear fusion and national defense.

I am deeply passionate about pushing the boundaries of human technology and exploring innovative solutions that drive scientific progress and societal impact. Throughout my career, I have been involved in a range of projects and collaborations to address complex research challenges and contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge scientific endeavors.

Current position

Staff Scientist for the National Ignition Facility (NIF) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL)

Career path

Throughout my career, I have held diverse roles in laboratory, research, and academic settings encompassing computer programming, engineering, chemistry, and materials science. These experiences have shaped my interdisciplinary approach and deepened my understanding of complex scientific challenges.

These experiences include work as a Field Service Engineer at Elementar Americas where I built elemental and isotopic analyzers; Research Assistant at LLNL’s Center for Accelerator Mass Spectrometry where I performed chemical processes, contributed to research in isotope chemistry, and made targets for the accelerator; Technician at VineMetrics where I built electronic systems to estimate end-of-season crop yield; and Apple where I worked as a software technician. Through this, I gained new experiences and interests that have provided me with a versatile skill set that I currently apply as a Staff Scientist.
