Jeremias is a Staff Scientist in the Nuclear Physics and Accelerator Technologies group. He uses surrogate reactions to study neutron captures of interest in Stockpile Stewardship and Nuclear Astrophysics. He also collaborates in Fission Product yields experiments and measurements of nuclear decay of rare isotopes.
He obtained his Ph.D. from Università degli Studi della Campania Luigi Vanvitelli, where he developed a ToF-tracking detector for the recoil separator ERNA to study the 12C(a,g)16O reaction at energies of astrophysical interest. After receiving his Ph.D., he started a postdoc with Prof. Shawn Bishop at the Technical University of Munich to study key reactions in stellar explosive nucleosynthesis.
He did his M.Sc. at the University of Sao Paulo, where he performed high-resolution gamma-ray spectroscopy measurements to determine the total fusion cross-section of 16O+16O at energies below the Coulomb barrier.
He completed his B.Sc. in Physics at the State University of Maringá, Brazil. As an undergraduate, he developed a control and acquisition software based on LabVIEW for the thermal lens technique and the optical spectroscopy technique.
PhD Nuclear Physics, Università degli Studi della Campania, Caserta, Italy, 2019
MSc Nuclear Physics, University of Sao Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil, 2015
