Research Interests

Dr. Dai is currently a senior staff scientist member of the Chemical & Isotopic Signatures Group in the Nuclear and Chemical Sciences Division within the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) Physical and Life Sciences Directorate. His research is focused on physical and chemical properties characterization of condensed matters and materials, exploring the relationships between microstructure of matters and materials and their formation, synthesis and performance, as well as evolution mechanism of the microstructure under different circumstances occurring naturally or manmade. His research fields include electron microscopy, x-ray and electron diffractions, nuclear forensics, nanomaterials, energy and environmental sciences, and mineralogy and petrology of terrestrial and extraterrestrial materials.
