Xiao Chen is a Computational Scientist and a Project Leader in the Center for Applied Scientific Computing (CASC) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). Xiao works primarily on the development and application of advanced computational and statistical methods and techniques to reservoir simulation, subsurface engineering, and seismic inversion. His research interests include Uncertainty Quantification, Data Assimilation, and Reduced Order Modeling. He is currently a principal investigator of a LDRD ER project and works on the development of an extreme-scale computational framework for data assimilation and uncertainty management of large-dimensional dynamics models.
Xiao joined the CASC in May 2011 as a postdoctoral researcher at LLNL. Before joining CASC, he received his Ph.D. degree in Applied Mathematics from Florida State University in 2011, and his M.S. degree in Applied Mathematics from Zhejiang University in 2006.
