Tal Ben Nun is a staff scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, focusing on scalable machine learning. His research explores the intersections of high-performance computing, machine learning, and programming languages. Current projects include large-scale foundation model training for scientific computing applications in chemistry and physics, data-centric parallel programming models, and advancing machine comprehension of code through deep learning and partial compilation. His work has been recognized with honors such as the ACM Gordon Bell Prize (2019) and the Swiss National Science Foundation’s Ambizione early career grant.
