Hank Childs joined LLNL in 1999 as a computer scientist working for B Program in DNT. After spending one year working on MeshTV, Hank transitioned to working on its successor, VisIt. VisIt is a richly featured, parallel visualization and analysis tool that won an R&D 100 award in 2005.

Currently, Hank splits his time between ASC, SciDAC, and GNEP. Hank's ASC role involves using VisIt for Verification and Validation (V&V) work, his SciDAC role is as the Chief Software Engineer of the Visualization and Analytics Center, VACET, and his GNEP role is as PI of a work package centering on visualization and analysis for advanced nuclear reactors.

Hank received a Bachelor's in 1999 from the University of California at Davis, majoring in math and computer science. He completed his Ph.D. in computer science in December of 2006, also from UC Davis.
